subweb is your basic subcommunity with a twist! think of reddit-meets-livejournal, a message board, or other similar websites, where different users and moderators with post new threads and other members are able to comment and interact based on the topic posted.

for convenience and ease, we are asking that members choose one main location when applying. however, if your character is affluent or frequently travels for work, we will not stop you from having them own multiple residences in different cities. otherwise, if your character is more of a wanderer, you are able to apply as a "nomad".

we understand that popular cities like los angeles, new york, london, etc. are realistically the most populated cities, thus would have more members than what we are currently capping at but we want to avoid them becoming over populated since we are a worldwide community. we understand that your characters may have a history where their location is important to their backstory and if this is the case, simply reach out to a mod if their city is capped. we don't want the community to feel centered around a few cities specifically while other members are spread out across different locations and we're sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

the short answer is no. we understand that as adults, our lives can be hectic and roleplay has to take a backseat. to avoid issues, we will not be allowing any sort of overrides. we will do removals every sunday for members who fail to intro and at the end of the month for members that fail to turn in their monthly activity.

if someone is using off site apps and they ask you to use one as well, at this point, all we can do is ask that you don't. we give our members the benefit of the doubt with this since there is no way for us to really monitor this. if you have a dated screenshot of a member using an app, or asking you to use one, you can contact us with it and we can issue a warning. all we're asking is for members to be present on the friends page as often as possible and put some effort into their activity here. if someone is using an off site app to keep in touch with prior connections, we would not consider this to be a violation of the no app rule.

besides connecting through mutual interests and engaging in group activities, webbly will host a montly in-person plot post where members can come together and meet, socialize, and build connections. there is plenty of opportunity to connect with members from other areas if you allow yourself to think outside the box and use creative license to make it happen!

additionally, we'd like to remind you all that suspension of disbelief is crucial in a creative hobby such as this one and forgetting about the limitations of money and work schedules will result in no repercussions as this is all pretend. if your character meets someone on the other side of the country and connects with them, nothing is stopping you but you from having them drop everything and fly out for a few days. so please, don't limit yourself with a hyper realistic way of thinking! absolutely! webbly is aimed at bringing back the days of roleplay where members were interested in building relationships, holding meaningful conversations, and really getting to know each other. this doesn't mean you are required to write like a published author, it just means that we want you to put thought into how you interact with others and try to relate and engage with one another.

at this time we will not be allowing faux celebs, however if you wish to have your character be a youtuber, tiktoker, twitch streamer, instagram influencer, etc. with a large following, without claiming credits, that is fine.

please do! since we're strictly site based, the more the friends page moves, the better. post however often you'd like and make sure to comment around on others' posts as well!

this is a hard no. marginalized communities suffer enough racebending in the real world, and while we're asking you to suspend hyper realism and think outside the box creatively, we do ask that your character have the same ethnic descent as your pb. for example - if you join the community as kim kardashian, you may not claim that she is of mixed-race just because she exhibits characteristics as such or has a darker complexion. if you wish for your character to have grown up in a different ethnic community than your pb, through means of adoption and such, that is totally fine as long as their race stays the same. we should all be cognizant to the fact that these marginalized groups do not exist for us to use as a convenient portrayal in our works. their plight is very real and while we understand, and hope, that you mean no ill-will by trying to represent one of these groups, we will firmly be enforcing this standard.

as of right now, yes. we will allow family members to apply for capped cities as long as it doesn't become too common. please have them state in their application, or the dropbox, that they are joining for this purpose.
